A rare and highly decorative antique Minton soup plate / shallow bowl from the celebrated Morrison service, featuring a vivid Bleu Celeste turquoise border richly ornamented with raised gilding, white enamel jeweling, classical floral medallions, laurel leaves, scrollwork, and a finely decorated central Gothic monogram.
The central monogram appears to be the interlaced “AM” and “C” associated with Alfred Morrison and Mabel Chermside Morrison. Closely related examples from this service are recorded as Minton, dated 1870, retailed by Phillips of Bond Street, London. The reverse bears the Phillips London retailer mark with Minton’s China mark.
This is a very fine cabinet-quality piece, with a bright turquoise ground and elaborate gilt decoration. The raised white enamel jewel detailing and rich gilding give the piece a luxurious decorative appearance. It would display beautifully as a cabinet plate, wall plate, or part of a collection of important English porcelain.

Condition:
Very good antique condition overall. There is a scratch to the Minton backstamp, otherwise No chips or cracks noticed. The turquoise ground remains vivid and the gilded and white enamel decoration displays beautifully. Some light wear/marks to the underside foot rim. A rare and elegant Minton piece with strong decorative appeal and an important documented design connection to the Alfred and Mabel Morrison service.
